In a sea of IWB holster clips, which is right for you?

IWB (Inside the Waistband) Holster Clips

We offer a wide variety of different holster clips for concealed carry holsters. Different applications require different methods to secure your firearm holster while carrying. Some people prefer the secureness of a soft loop that wraps around your belt and snaps.  Other individuals prefer a FOMI (Fold Over Mold Injected) clip, which goes on a belt quickly and effortlessly. One of the fastest growing segments of "belt attachments", is not needing a belt at all.

For just about every scenario, we offer a holster clip to fit your need.  We receive questions daily on what clips we would recommend for different scenarios. We hope to shed some light on this subject and navigate the waters of belt (or belt-less) clips!

FOMI Clips

Let's start with the most common holster clip that we pair with our products. The FOMI clip is a universal mold injected (polymer) belt clip that is very practical when you want a thin profile or tight ride on your holster and are always going to wear a sturdy belt while carrying. You simply slip it over your belt and the molded tab secures itself under your belt. We offer this clip in a 1.5" or 1.75" configuration.  This allows the customer to match the clip to the belt size that they wear.

Pros:

  • Easy on/ Easy off
  • Low Profile
  • Secures the holster very well to a sturdy, thicker belt

Cons:

  • A belt is always required to secure the holster without question
  • Polymer can deform under severe stress and lose its retention on the belt.

Over Hooks

We utilize the RCS over hook as an option for our IWB holsters.  These are more commonly found on our APNDX or APNDX-2 holsters, but can easily be placed on most fold-over style holsters. The IWB over hook offers a tough snap over to guarantee a snug fit, with an easy release. They work by securely encapsulating the belt within the clip and release by lifting the over hook and moving the hooked part below the belt. We currently offer these in a 1.75" configuration. They will fit belts up to 1.75" in width. You are also able to tuck your shirt in behind the clip, since it mounts to the holster at the bottom of the clip. This allows you to add a facet of conceal-ability to your bag of tools.

Pros:

  • Easy on/ Easy off
  • Low Profile
  • Secures the holster very well to a sturdy, thicker belt
  • Concealable (tuck-able)

Cons:

  • A belt is always required to secure the holster

Soft loops

Probably the most secure method of fastening a holster to a person is by using soft loops. These are used to securely hold your holster inside your waistband. This design mounts with a standard post and screw mount and has a 3-point adjustability (1.5 - 2" belts), Pull-the-dot® snap closure (that opens in only one direction), for secure carry. The material is a rubberized canvas that is rugged and flexible.

Pros:

  • Easy on/ Easy off
  • Low Profile
  • Interchangeable with FOMI clip mounting
  • Secures the holster very well to a sturdy, thicker belt
  • Concealable (tuck-able)

Cons:

  • A belt is always required to secure the holster

Ulticlip

We became a dealer of Ulticlip in 2020 for two good reasons, they work and you don't need a belt. The Ulticlip is a high-performance metal retention and concealment clip. These clips have three mounting hole options and will easily replace an over hook. We can also offer Ulticlips for almost any IWB holster, with blocking added to our molds. They operate on the "pinch" principal and are very sturdy and secure when engaged. All you need to do is pick your position on your waistline or belt and engage the locking lever to secure the clip in position. Once engaged and locked down, your holster will not move easily. These are very simple and effective. They are also concealable (tuck-able) and allow you to mount a holster inside of a bag or purse.

Pros:

  • Easy on/ Easy off
  • Low Profile
  • Secures the holster very well
  • Use with or without a belt
  • Allows mounting to bag/ purse compartment
  • Concealable (tuck-able)
  • Metal construction
  • Interchangeable with over hook (hole spacing and mounting hardware are the same)

Cons:

  • Sort of: Some users find it difficult to open the locking lever, until they become familiar with how they operate
